RVYC 2010 Schedule of Events (Updated April 2010)

 

Please email Jean (jeanpritchard@sbcglobal.net) to add your name to any event or sign up at any RVYC function on the Rendezvous Sign-Up Sheets.  As we get closer to the boating season, further details will be updated on events. The dates currently posted will remain the same, but those with question marks have not been finalized as yet… too early to set up!

Sunday, February 5th - Super Bowl Party

Joe and Carol Bacile are hosting our annual Super Bowl Party (again) at their home.  See "Members Only" section for address.  Please Map Quest or call for directions.

 

Friday, March 5th - RVYC Membership Meeting at 8 p.m. 

Jim and Carolyn Roth will host the Club’s March meeting at the their home.  See "Members Only" section for address.  Please Map Quest or call for directions.

 

Sunday, March 28th - Whirlyball

Located at 41550Grand River (near Meadowbrook), Novi, 48375,

tel. 248-788-8900, www.whirlyballmichigan.com.

1 hr. for 10-15 people from 2-3 p.m., with option to add 1-2 p.m.

$175/hr., with coupon, beverages & food available for purchase but can take in snacks.

 

Participants: Alfaros, Barans, Crains, Lynn Koleski, Shermans (4), Diane Deptula & Bob Frick, Pritchards & Dennis Kunkel.  Looking for more people.                                                                                   

Dinner in the Novi area afterwards, location TBD.

 

Sunday, April 11th - RVYC Membership Meeting at 2 p.m.

Meeting will be held at PC Jo Anne & PC Norm Crain’s home.    See "Members Only" section for address.  Please Map Quest or call for directions.

Guest speaker will be Dr. Mike Heberling who will give an exciting historical perspective on the ships that have sunk in the Great Lakes.

Details to follow regarding food and beverages.

 

Sunday, April 25th - Meadowbrook Theater located on Oakland University’s campus at 207 Wilson Hall, Rochester, MI 48309

(please Google for directions).  Performing “Breaking Up is Hard to Do” at 2 p.m. (approx. 2 hrs. in length).  Performance followed with dinner at Macaroni Grill located at 2111 N. Squirrel Rd, Auburn Hills, (248) 373-7507 (right across from the theatre).  Reservations at 4:30 p.m.

Friday, May 7th RVYC General Membership Meeting

Location at Club Kean (upstairs) at 8 p.m.   

“Auction Night” … one person’s trash; another person’s treasure!

 

Saturday, May 22nd – RVYC Fitting Out Party at 4 p.m.

Location is under the tent in Kean’s parking lot.

Club furnishes hot dogs & brats and beer & pop. 

Please bring a dish to pass and BYOB.

 

Memorial Day Weekend, Saturday-Monday, May 29th-31st – Cove Marina

Monday-Friday, June 28th-July 2nd – Lake Erie Rendezvous   

Tentative Locations to visit are Pelee Island, Put-In-Bay, Vermillion, Huron & Maumee Bay

Friday, July 2nd – RVYC General Membership Meeting at 8 p.m.

Location: Club Kean

 

July 4th Weekend Rendezvous

Previously scheduled trip to Leamington has been cancelled due  to recent tornado damage to the marina and surrounding area.

We are looking at alternative plans but most ports and marinas are booked for the holiday weekend.  (See further details under the Fleet Captain’s report in the newsletter.)

 

 

Saturday, July 17th – Rendezvous to Puce (1 night stay)

Dine at their restaurant, stop for a swim in Lake St. Clair (Kirby St. Bay) & picnic lunch on Sunday

July 17th/24th/31st - Pontooning on Portage Lakes

Rent a pontoon boat, buy a water gun and have a “blastfully” wet time. 

 

Monday, August 2nd – Deadline to sign-up and pay for “Holiday Nights” @ the Henry Ford

Friday, August 6th – RVYC General Membership Meeting at 8 p.m.

Location: Club Kean with a tentative sunset cruise following the meeting.

Theme is “Wild, Wild West”

RVYC General Membership Meeting and dinner on the 5th

Theme: Pirates – “Swashbuckling & Booty” (further details to follow)

Details to follow.  Besides new dog rules, South Basin will be open to reservations via DNR.  (http://www.midnrreservations.com/)
